laced sleeve

Photos by Roxana Velazco

(Kate & Kass camisole, American Eagle kimono, Acne jeans, Topshop boots, vintage backpack)

The last time I wore anything from American Eagle was probably in 8th grade. I randomly stopped by the store a few weeks ago for an assignment and ended up loving this kimono (which happened to be on sale). This goes to show that it's not about the label, but about the garment. I believe you can find a great piece in just about any store and turn it into your own style by mixing it with existing pieces in your wardrobe. Case in point, this really great kimono top. It's definitely a great layering piece for the office and lazy off duty days. Lesson of the day: Be open minded to new brands and revisit old brands that you thought you outgrew, it just might surprise you.

pumpkin and oatmeal

Photos by Michael Ramstead

(Silence + Noise sweater, H&M skirt, All Saints boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag)

It's here! My favorite time of year! October marks the season change, the chill of the cold air, the leaves crunching under your boots, pumpkin spice lattes, and cuddling with that special someone (or special animal in my case, haha). Although most days it still feels like summer in LA, there are a few ways to get into the spirit of fall without looking like a crazy person while everyone else is still in denim cut offs and tank tops. First, pair a heavier top with a mini skirt, keep the legs bare! second, add breathable layers. This sweater feels like a fall sweater but actually is perfect for summer because of the holes. and third, stick with a neutral color palette with pops of olive or burgundy. These type of colors are always associated with the colder season. With these three things in mind this is what I wore to the pumpkin patch last weekend. We picked out the perfect pumpkins to carve and I'm so excited! By the way how crazy are those gigantic pumpkins?! I've literally never seen a vegetable that big (and please don't tell me pumpkins are technically a fruit, because I just don't accept that). anyway, hooray for pumpkins on steroids!

It's only rock & roll but I like it

Photos by Roxana Velazco

(Ecote blouse, Paige jeans, Stuart Weitzman boots, Rag & Bone hat, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, Peach me necklace)

Flowy blouses and leather look pants has got me feeling like fall is in the air. I'm definitely loving purple hues for the upcoming season, particularly this burgundy color that I have been injecting into practically every outfit. I wore this during the day for work then later for a night out with the bestie for dinner and drinks. It's one of those day to night looks that make my life easier. I just switched out the burgundy oxford flats I wore during the day to these suede boots for night. done and done.
