pop of red

Photos by Michael Ramstead

(Current Elliot tank, Alexander Wang skirt, Equipment shirt, All Saints boots, Theyskens' Theory bag, Rag & Bone hat)

Neutrals are my best friends. I seem to always gravitate towards shades of browns, blacks, and whites whenever I shop. But once in a while it's absolutely necessary to inject a bit of color into my ensemble. I find that the easiest way to add a pop of color is by tying it around my waist. On most days I grab a flannel but this day I wanted to keep it dressier so I threw on my silk Equipment blouse instead. It added that extra oomph I needed without loosing the polished feel I liked. Also, adding extra layers is the perfect styling trick for a transitional look. So yes, it would be nice to actually transition already, LA!

the rum diary

Photos by Shawn Plascencia

(Missguided bodysuit, Rag & Bone pants, Tibi heels, Marc Jacobs clutch, Forever 21 hat)

I've never seen the movie or read the book The Rum Diary, but I can tell you a few things about it right now. 1. Amber Heard is HOT and 2. the outfits worn by Johnny Depp are definitely worthy of emulation. It's extremely dapper, and although that term is typically reserved for menswear, I think there is a refreshing way to incorporate it in a woman's closet. A straw fedora and tailored pant is absolutely the way to go. From there you can come up with any combination to go with those pieces and your look would have a dapper touch. Also, I would suggest you commit to the look and get yourself a sweet ride to go along with it, just like I did. I totally didn't just take photos in front of some random person's car or anything. ;)

stained glass

Photos by Ruby Park

(Truly Madly Deeply T-Shirt, Madewell denim shirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, Rag & Bone hat, All Saints boots)

A few weeks ago I met up with Ruby from The Ruby Element, for a brunch date and shopping on Melrose. We ate at Blu Jam for the first time and it was fantastic! It's been on my radar for a while so I was excited to finally try it out. I highly recommend anything on the breakfast menu, specifically the Italian Breakfast. It's gluten free and paired with a tall glass of OJ, literally the best way to start your day. Wore some of my favorite basics that day, including the T-shirt dresses that I have been living in lately. It's so easy to dress up with a pair of heels, but also perfect for those off duty days paired with converses or comfy ankle boots. We ended the day strolling over to Wasteland and picked up a few things. The perfect ending to a much needed girl's day.
